Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for Parents of Neurodivergent Kids
Parenting a neurodivergent child—whether that child is autistic, or has ADHD, OCD, or otherwise—comes with deep joys, complex challenges, and often, a sense of being misunderstood or unsupported. You may find yourself in demand as an advocate without the training or skills, navigating complex systems, managing meltdowns, explaining your child’s needs to extended family, or quietly grieving the gap between what you expected and what’s possible in your household.
You don’t have to do this alone.
This therapy service is designed for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent kids across the age span—whether you’re parenting a newly diagnosed preschooler, a struggling teen, or a young adult still finding their footing.
Therapy That Affirms Your Child—and You
As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I understand autism, ADHD and OCD as meaningful neurodevelopmental differences that shape the way people interact with the world—and I believe in supporting families to adapt, connect, and thrive within that framework.
My work with parents incorporates two essential layers:
1. Support for You as a Whole Person
Your needs matter. In this therapy space, you’ll have room to explore:
The emotional complexity of parenting—burnout, anxiety, guilt, anger, love, confusion, sometimes all at once
How your own neurotype or attachment history interacts with your parenting style
The grief or loneliness that can come with raising a child whose needs feel “invisible” to others, or the exclusion that you experience when your child is excluded.
The pressure to do everything “right,” especially in a world that doesn’t accommodate difference.
Whether you’re neurodivergent yourself or not, we’ll work to understand and meet your needs—not just as a parent, but as a person.
2. Collaborative, Practical Parenting Support
At the same time, we can address concrete challenges that come up at home. Together, we can problem-solve issues like:
Setting boundaries in a way your child can actually hear
Supporting executive functioning without constant nagging
Navigating school communication and IEP/504 plans
Managing transitions, sleep issues, or sibling dynamics
Differentiating between skill gaps and behavioral patterns
Parenting is not about perfection—it’s about relationship. I’ll help you shift away from shame-based models and toward compassionate, effective strategies that actually fit your family.
Informed by Experience Across the Lifespan
I am a parent on my own journey with neurodivergence, allowing me to understand your experience from my own lived vantage point. I bring experience working with autistic and otherwise neurodivergent people across ages and stages—from early childhood through young adulthood. I understand both the developmental realities of your child’s current age and the potential for growth, autonomy, and connection over time. I can help you zoom in on what matters today while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
